Kwale County government has initiated the rehabilitation of the Mabogi water pan in Ndavaya ward, Kinango sub-county.
The rehabilitation is aimed at improving water access for the residents.
The project, funded under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Program through the Department of Land, Environment, and Natural Resources, involves desolating the water pan, and spillway works.
Once completed, the pan with a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters will serve over 279 households in Ndauni A, Ndauni B, and Dudu A villages.
In addition to providing water for domestic use, the facility will also serve as a critical water source for livestock in the area.
While addressing residents during the launch of the rehabilitation, Kwale County governor Fatuma Achani urged Kwale residents to prioritize development and unity and shun divisive politics.
“If we work together, we will easily achieve our development goals. Please don’t dwell in cheap politics, and instead support the government,” she said.
Her remarks were echoed by Ndavaya MCA Ali Beja Mwauchi, who commended the governor’s commitment to service delivery and assured her of his unwavering support.
The rehabilitation of the Mabogi Water Pan is part of Achani’s broader agenda to enhance water security, climate resilience, and sustainable development in Kwale County.
